is what I woke up to this morning. Yes, my hubby is home. For good. Yippee!! After working 12 miles off the coast of Mississippi for 3.5 months, he is back home where he belongs. It's so nice to have him here, heck, it's nice to be able to talk to him without having to spend the entire conversation saying. "WHAT?!" "YOU THERE?!" "HELLO?!"

Although it's going to take a little adjustment on our part, (I've only had to share my bed with AJ these last few months...lol) I am soooooo happy he is here.

So here's to NORMAL....or our new version of it, anyway.

I'm off to scrap for 54 hours straight starting tomorrow, so plan to see TONS of layouts....I hope. I made 29 page kits...my goal is 20 layouts. We shall see!

Busy Body. I found this pic of AJ and had to scrap it immediately. She was almost two in this photo and completely adorable. I didn't have a digital camera back then, so finding pics like this is a rarity. I used a March PageMaps sketch.

Friday Fill-Ins

We spent today driving home from our four day weekend in Mississippi...we didn't even wear green for the ride home...lol

However, on Saturday, we went to the St. Patty's Day parade in Biloxi. It was fun and AJ had a blast!

It's been a good week, but it's about to get 200 times better since we are heading to MS to spend time with Web for FOUR days. woo hooooooooooo! I can hardly wait!

Family Weekend and a Bag Tag

Web called Friday and surprised us by coming home for the weekend. Apparently the storm that was over Mississippi caused the National Park Service to close the island down he works on, so home he came!

We had a great time. On Saturday, we went to the beach and had a picnic and then just walked for a while and watched AJ make sandcastles. The weather was beautiful although it was a little windy. About 30 minutes after we got there, though, the wind changed directions and started coming off the water which made it cold. SO we had to leave. We spent the rest of the day just chillin' around the house and Web cooked chicken on the grill.

Here's what I've been carrying since Friday:

I was carrying a dark blue patchwork, but I thought it was time to go lighter since Spring is on it's way...This one is the biggest purse I own, it's huge. The price? Oh I paid about $170 for it I think...about two years ago. You know, when construction was booming and Web owned his own business. Read: when we had money to spend frivilously....lol. I love my Coach bags (I have 10 - even after I sold three on evil-bay) and I still see ones I want, but not right now...

It's been a while...

Gee, two weeks since my last post? Why? Well, frankly, not a lot going on here. Just the regular day-to-day goings on. Web came home for 3 1/2 days last weekend. We went and had our pictures done on Saturday. I'll post just one as I don't have them all yet. Jaime and Brittany at Barefoot Images met us in the freezing cold and we had a great time!

So that's about it....nothing on the scrapfront...although there are pics and papers on my table right now.

Happy Valentine's Day

So it's Valentine's Day. It seems everyone has an opinion about the day - whether it be positive or negative. SO why not give you mine?!

I am a romantic. Yes, I am. I love that my husband still opens the door for me wherever we go; that he sends me cutesy little emails during the day; that he leaves voicemails on my cell phone knowing I won't get them until the next time I am in the car.

Valentine's isn't that big of a deal to us. We usually acknowledge it with some candy and a card. We usually get AJ a stuffed animal and some candy. That's about it and that is fine because yes America, I have a SWEETHEART all. year. long.

Hope your sweetheart is good to you, too!

Some Red and Pink

The Challenge this month at Scrap Your Crap was to use the colors red and pink in honor of Valentine's Day.

Saturday, I went scrapping with some friends and was able to get two red and pink layouts done:
"Daddy's Girl" AJ and daddy before her dance recital last June. For this layout, I pulled out the Scenic Route Loveland collection that I could never make myself use since I love it sooo much. I actually only used the 'scrap strip' sheet and one piece of the chipboard.

{SWEET} For Halloween, AJ (yes, that IS her..lol) dressed up as Gabriella from High School Musical. I used these adorable AC papers that Greta sent to me in a RAK back in November.

It was nice to use these colors without having to be boxed into a V-Day layout. I had fun with them AND used some of my stash!

Friday Fill-Ins, a Layout and a Crop...

First up...Friday Fill-ins.

1. Please don't tell AJ that I ate her last Star Crunch.

2. Can you function without caffeine in the morning? I CAN'T!!

3. The color yellow makes me want to smile!

4. I have a craving for SUSHI.

5. If my life had a pause button, I'd pause it when Web is home so he wouldn't have to leave.

6. Eyes are the one thing I wouldn't want to live without. (Yes, I'm grasping for straws here)

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to nothing special, tomorrow my plans include scrapping at the LSS with friends, and Sunday, I want to get this house in order!

Next, my new layout. I used the most current PencilLines Sketch. This is Web and I goofing off in a "plane" in "Mexico" at the Discovery Museum in Gulfport last month. I love that we can be totally goofy. I edited the picture at Picnik. If you've never been there, go. It is a great little editing site and most things are FREE!

Live in the Now

The girls over at Forward Progress always seem to have some thought provoking prompts. January's was no exception.

Do you ever think about what you want? It could be anything from wanting chocolate right here and right now, to wanting a better future for your children that you might not have had.

It is a new year, a time of resolutions...but let's be serious...do we stick to them? What is it that you really want? Do you want lose 20 lbs or do you want to just be generally more happier with who you are? Do you want more time in the day for the things that are important? Or do you want a new camera?

you get the idea...have fun with it...or be serious...just be honest.

so...with that being said....our prompt for January is to tell us What you want.

So, I got to thinking. What is it that I want most? There are quite a few things I could rattle off.....happiness, world peace, a new car...the list could go on and on. But the reality of those answers is that they are just generic. They are the "sunday school answer"

I am a pessimist at heart. I always have been. And lately, my glass has been less than half empty, let me tell ya. I struggle with this demon every single day. What someone may find joy in, I usually don't even see. Two Sundays ago, I ran into some friends of ours that I had not seen in a while. I took the opportunity to ask our friend, and fellow pessimist, for some guidance as how to deal with life and all that is involved...as a pessimist, of course.

His words were so simple but yet so profound. He told me, "Darlene, as a pessimist, you must learn to live in the now, be thankful for the day thus far and realize that God has blessed you with all of it. Don't look forward. Just be in the RIGHT NOW."

These words spoke to my heart and I realized that more than anything in this world, I want to LIVE IN THE NOW.

All Is Right With the World...

....well, MY world, anyway. On Tuesday, I got a phone call from Web telling me that he had a change in plans and was coming home!! Woo hoo! He hasn't been home since the 28th of December and was slated to come home NEXT (2/7)weekend. Nevertheless, he's here now and will be until Sunday.

I did stress a little about the condition of the house. I must admit that I had "let it go" a bit---but I was starting to get it ready for next weekend. So I did a speed clean and it turned out pretty good.

It's nice having him home. It's nice to be 'normal'..haha

It's Christmas (again)

So it's been a month since Christmas. In that month, I have completed three Christmas layouts:

I used Inspired Blueprints #7 for this layout of AJ and her friend decorating cookies. I also used Sassafras Lass! This is my very first 8 1/2 x 11 layout ever and I must say it was fun to do!

I'm not real happy with this one. I love the pic, but just couldn't seem to do it justice. I added some wrapping paper to the top and scalloped it. It seemed to match better than the other papers I had.

I used Inspired Blueprints #8 for AJ's Santa pic this year. I had her write a few of the things she asked for. I thought she might get a kick out that when she gets older to see her 5 year old handwriting! (it says Barbie House, Calendar and Microphone - all of which she got!)

Welp, that's all the Christmas I have for now. I have a LOT more pics to scrap, but we'll just have to see how that goes.

Back to the Grind...

We are back from spending four fun days with Web in Mississippi. He gets four days off about every 2 1/2 weeks, so this time we decided to go over there instead of him coming home.
Here's what we did:

relaxed at the condo
went shopping at the outlets (LOVE LOVE LOVE the Bath & Body Works Outlet!!)
took AJ to a museum
stood in line in the freezing cold to get DONUTS...lol (Tatonuts - apparently the best place in Ocean Springs, MS for doughnuts.)
watched the sunset
went to the country to eat catfish (Shaw's Fish House) with some friends
drove to Louisiana
went across the 24 mile long bridge (across Lake Pontchartrain)

Becoming One with Nature..

well, not really..lol Last week, when we met Web in Marianna, we decided to visit The Florida Caverns State Park. The caves were closed that particular day, so we decided to walk the trails and enjoy the nature all around us. Let me remind you that this is swamp land in Florida, and although it is January, it was 78 degrees - a great environment for mosquitoes. So even though we have our jackets on and sleeves pulled down, we were HOT! We had a good time though, and saw a bunch of squirrels and a snake [shudder]. Web loves to do this sort of thing and I must admit this is probably the first time I have ever agreed to do ANY outdoor activity that didn't involve the beach!
{Products except for tickets are from Noel Mignon's Love Story Kit (sold out). I used my new Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge for the title and note paper.}

It's Your Love..........

When I married my husband 6 years ago, it was more than I ever dreamed of. We had known each other for about three years, he was a family friend. I love the fact that he tried to play hard-to-get, that he said "I LOVE YOU" first, that he let me into his heart. He is my one true love and I cherish every minute we get to spend together.

Right now, his job has sent him 450 miles from home - it's hard and I hate it. But I know we have to endure this in order to have the life we want to have. On Monday, he called to say that he had that afternoon and Tuesday off (he's been working round the clock since 12/28 and wasn't scheduled to be off till the 16th of Jan). I came up with the bright idea of meeting at a half way point in order to spend time together. So, I threw our stuff in our suitcases and off AJ and I went to ren-des-vous with him! We each drove about 24o miles - only 3.5 hours - and met up in Marianna, FL. We had a wonderful time and I am so glad we did it! Even though we only got to spend about 36 hours with him, it was soooo worth it!

Today, after I got home, I was inspired to complete Noel's "Love Song" challenge. I'd had the picture pulled since Sunday, but I wasn't inspired (I have not scrapped since November!) I used her LOVE SONG kit (which is sold out) as well! I chose "It's Your Love" by Tim McGraw. The words just fit how I feel about Web.

While I was in Mississippi this past weekend, I met up with my scrap gal GRETA at her LSS to make a canvas. She told me that we would be painting on canvas and I immediately tried to back out. I can't paint! I can't even draw a stick person - ask AJ!!

So I met her on Sunday and we created this:

It was so fun hanging out and creating with Greta. It almost makes me want to move to Biloxi *wink wink* ALMOST.

Don't you just love these guys? AJ has a weird fascination with nutcrackers, so I took this pic for her. She picked one out, I will have to remember which one so Santa can deliver it to her (she gets one every year)

I just got back from being out of town for the last five days. We did lots of family things, some shopping and I even got to take an awesome class at a LSS. For now, I am winding down and taking in the reality of home....LAUNDRY, CLEANING, COOKING, etc etc.

Oh Tannenbaum....

The tree is up and decorated. We did it on Monday, I just haven't uploaded the pics here. I'm now have a new dilemma with the tree: CATS They seem to LOVE the tree and knocking all the ornaments off the bottom. I was pleasantly surprised this morning to only find ONE ornament on the floor. Maybe they are starting to understand - or it could just be the fact that there are now NO ornaments on the lowest branches. We shall seeeeeeeeeeee.

Trying to get into the Holiday spirit and it's just not coming that easy. Maybe I should pull the rest of the crap, err, I mean stuff out and decorate the entire house. I'll post pics if/when I do.

My Bucket List

I'm sort of a day-to-day girl, so I have never really thought of things that I would want to do before I kick the bucket. I mean there are the normal things, like be a good person, raise AJ to be the best she can be, stuff like that. And yes, that is all important, to me more important than menial things like travel and shopping. But in the scheme of things, I think I'm doing a pretty good job with myself and AJ.....we're still works in progress, but we're turning out okay. So when Greta told us about a challenge on the new site Forward Progress, I gave it some thought. After I did this exercise and put it down on paper, it seems as if I pretty much just want to travel. I guess when you look into your "wants", you just need to take what comes out. Even though there are a LOT of things I would like to do, these five kept coming back to me, so I figure they must need be on the top of my list.

I don't talk about it ever, but I am not the healthiest person. I mean I started January 2008 in the hospital having brain surgery. My brain is now fine, but I have other health issues going on. Things that need attention. Issues such as breathing. I am currently on oxygen full time. At 33. It sucks. It makes you realize that NONE of us are guaranteed tomorrow. That things that should come so easily (like breathing) can be one of the most difficult things to do. A small task such as folding the laundry turns into a marathon. It makes you realize that yes, life is precious, and it is okay to focus on frivolous things every now and again. Like going to NYC and shopping all day.

Being sick has really brought me down. I'm not the happy jovial person I once was. I WANT to be that person again. I have promised myself that I am going to strive to be that person again.

So see, making a "bucket list" isn't the negative thing I thought it was. For me, it actually gave me some motivation to keep on keeping on....to do some of these things on my list. To not focus so much on my condition, but my life and the gift that it is.

So what's on my list?
I want to :

Watch my baby girl marry the man of her dreams
go shopping in NYC and take in a Broadway show
Live in a new and different city
Visit Northern Italy where Web lived and let him be my tour guide
Tour all of the Napa Valley Wineries

I have quite a bit of down time this week, which means time in my SCRAPROOM. I just finished watching the last episode of Sex and the City on DVD. I've watched the entire series twice now. So, needless to say, I'm a little bored with SATC. So as I was in Target today, I saw this on sale
It's only the first season, but I can't wait to walk down those halls of West Beverly High. I, too, was part of the class of 1993 - only about a 180 from West Beverly. But I loved this show and watched until the very end. Plus who can not love Dylan and Brandon's creative sideburns and all of the high-waisted pants?! Hopefully I'll get some creating done, too...

I've been a MACHINE...

....a scrappin machine this week. I've done three LOs so far which is a LOT for me. I'm so glad I FINALLY cleaned my scraproom so I can be in there whenever I want!

I love this LO...it's sooooo AJ! She loves to go to Target, mainly because of the $1 spot, where she knows she will get 2 or 3 items of her choice. She also loves the huge circles outside the store and let's not forget the chocolate milk from Starbucks. It has to be in the cup - no Horizon Organic milk box for her - she wants real deal. And she gets it. :-)

I've been stalking Sisterhood of Scrap this week. It's a really cool site if you haven't been there, you should go check it out. They have a theme for every day and it is really neat. Saturdays are "Sketch Saturday" which is where I found inspiraion for this LO. I knew I wanted to go with circles and a bullseye, but the sketch really helped me along.

I know this is 4th of July in November, but I was finally inspired to do these pics. This is us in our patriotic garb, getting ready to head to a party and watch the fireworks. I love this LO because not only is it our happy little family, but I was also able to get a pic of AJ and her big brother Ryan. Ryan is the best brother to her...which is really cool since they are 19 years apart. She loves him sooooo much as you can see in the pic.

I used Valerie Salmon's Got Sketch? #70 for this LO. I haven't done a multi-photo LO in a while and it was nice to do.

In other news, I am meeting up with Julie tomorrow to scrap and laugh all day. I know it will be a blast and I am sure we will have some pics and funny stories to share come Monday.

When we brought Simon home, his name was Pixy. "She" was going to be AJ's little kitty---her new little baby to dress up and play with continuously. Well, Pixy took a liking to me. She started following me around and becoming MY buddy. When she was about two months old, I started to notice 'nuggets' growing under her tail and I realized that Pixy was not going to be a girl kitty. Plus, she didn't like to play with AJ, well, she did, but only in her way of jumping out and biting her, me, anyone walking by. About that same time, Web brought home ANOTHER kitty, a girl (for real this time) and AJ affectionately named her Sara. SHE is AJ's baby; that cat has the best temperament of any cat I have ever seen! So, PIXY became SIMON. (AJ had just watched Alvin and the Chipmunks for the 3rd time, so the name was fitting.)

Simon, Si, Si-Si....he's definitely MY cat...he has to be in the same room as me at all times...even the bathroom. If I close the door, he will scratch and meow until I open it. I've never really been a cat person, but I guess now I am!

That's a new word I just made up. We've had a week filled with activities, costumes, and parties.

On Monday, we decided to carve and decorate the pumpkins we got from the patch. AJ chose a cat for her daddy to carve and then we created two monster faces on her pumpkin.

So far this week, we've had a cat and a cheerleader in the house. One more costume to go for tomorrow night.

my Revamped Scrap Room

It has taken me right at a year to get my scraproom into shape. Don't we all remember THIS pic?
If you look at my blog header, you will see what the room looked like in the beginning. About this time last year, we moved into our new house and I immediately claimed the back bedroom as my scraproom. Web has the entire den the way he wants it (including the wall of murder - as named by my friend Julie) My scraproom was pretty, but it wasn't very functional. The workspace was only 13 inches wide and stuff always slid off the back. I had crammed everything into the small little drawers and they were just a mess. So for Christmas last year, Web made me a nice wide counter top and some matching shelves. It took me a while to figure out where to put the shelves, but he was able to install them for me. It was all nice, but still I had a HUGE MESS.

Last week, I decided that it was time to tackle the clutter known as my scraproom. I worked on it a little each day and it is FINALLY FINISHED!!

Here's the view from the doorway:
There wasn't much change on that wall, except that I moved the lamp and added a rug. Mel, yes that's your LO on the wall...Victoria, that's yours on top of the shelf. :)

Here's my new and inproved workspace:
You will notice a HUGE difference between this pic and the one on my header. See my ribbons?! That's probably my most favorite part! My friend Vel gave me this idea and I totally LOOOVE it!

Here are the shelves Web made:
On the top shelf are all the cards I have received from my scrappy friends. (Debbi, yours fell over, but it is there) They make me happy. :)

The other side of my workspace has more storage and another shelf. Also you can see my TV and DVD. I love to watch episodes of Sex and the City or throw on Dirty Dancing while I am scrapping.
The newest addition to the scraproom is my new table that holds my laptop, printer and scanner. It will also double as a workspace should I have a friend come over to scrap. There used to be an oversized loveseat in here, but the table is much more practical:

that's what AJ says when we are having a tea party. I have had this picture printed out forever and bought the Sassafras Lass Lollipop papers right when they came out for this LO. Funny how I just got around to it. But it turned out pretty close to how I had it designed in my head.

I hope to get to a few more Layouts before the week is over. We'll see how the rest of the week goes. I'm not having a great week health wise. Let's hope I start feeling better.

A day with JULIE

I can't believe it has taken me this long to post about my wonderful scrap day with the infamous Julie. She lives about 1.5 hours from me, so we decided to get together at my house for a mini crop.

I was so totally nervous before she got here. Not about meeting her, but that she was probably going to find out that I am a clutterbug. My scraproom was a disaster area, and even though we weren't scrapping in there, I still wanted it to be clean. And by disaster area, I mean DISASTER AREA.
This room gradually became the "catch-all" for EVERYTHING. And it totally overwhelmed me. So, I started cleaning in there bright and early Saturday morning. At about 11 or so, there was a knock on the door and I knew I was caught. Yeah, I can be a slob. Now you know my secret.

I answered the door and there she was, petting my cat (of course...lol) There was no weirdness, no quiet times from the moment she walked in. It was as if I had known her all my life. She's fun, and so down-to-earth. Which is a good thing, because my house was Grand Central Station for some reason that day.

We pulled our stuff out on the dining table and AJ decided to join us for a bit. She created two layouts with the stuff Julie brought her. She was definitely a busy body - changing clothes about 4 times, singing, dancing, being the normal AJ.

We had a great day and towards the end, I had to get Jules to autograph my copy of Memory Makers where she was currently published. I will treasure it forever...lol

Of course before she left, we had to get some pics:Julie has more since my battery died. :(

All in all, it was a great day, I am so glad to have met her 'IRL' and I can't wait to do it again!

Another busy week....

Ever get the feeling something has taken over your life and you are out of control? NO, not SCRAPPING that would be a good thing. I'm talking work. I'm still putting the late hours in and have no time for anything - much less scrapping!
I did complete ONE layout. I started it on Saturday and finally finished it this morning.
Now I notice the pic is crooked - hmmm....oh well for now.
I am going to a crop tomorrow from 4-midnight, so I hope to get something accomplished!

I started my new job a month ago. I love it, but it consumes a LOT of my time. Working full time is ROUGH...waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. But I love it, and hey, to live the American Dream, it's needed. :D

I haven't had much time to scrap, which I hate, but oh well. I hope to get some stuff done soon.

Just Call me Lazy Bones....

I've been home all week. Took a little break between job A ending and job B starting. It's amazing the things you DON'T get done when you are home. I seem to accomplish more by being gone 10 hours a day and THEN coming home and attacking things. Guess I'm lazy. Go figure. LOL

AJ and I had a pretty good week. We played in the pool (well she played & I laid out with a book), we toured new preschools, and we went shopping with mema. Amazingly enough, I did NO scrapping.

In other news, I received a personal phone call from my Neurosurgeon and he said that according to my last CT scan, everything looks good and has healed just perfectly....YAY! He released me from his care which is the best news I have heard in a while. I now feel I can start to put the events of January behind me and move on - HEALTHY.

I realized I haven't introduced the newest member of our family....Meet Miss Pixie:
She's playful, feisty and VERY hard to photograph! She's turning in to my baby, she has to be wherever I am, but not touching me. If I try to get her to come sit with me or cuddle with me, she runs away. But when the lights go out and we go to bed, guess who is curled up next to me?

We have a busy weekend planned with company for dinner tonight, AJ's dance recital and date night tomorrow, and hopefully my stepdad will be making FRIED RICE for Sunday's dinner!

scrappin' at the LSS - it ain't what it used to be....

Friday night, E and I met another friend of hers and went to the LSS to crop. I must tell you that it wasn't that fun. Really.

First, I had to pay $10 to crop, under the pretense that I got a $5 credit towards my purchase. I really have no problem with that - I understand they need to make money and pay the light bill, etc., plus I will normally pick up something while I am there.

Second, there were about ten people there; TEN! This used to the LSS that had a waitlist by Tuesday !!

Thirdly, it was tooooooo quiet (probably because there were only 10 of us)

We ended up going OUT for dinner, coming back and the time still drug on. Then, at 11pm, they started announcing that we all MUST pay as soon as possible because the computer goes down at midnight and they wouldn't know how to close out your tab (WTF?!) They then announced again it at 11:15, 11:30 and by 11:45, they were singling people out to come pay. E's friend spent quite a bit of time on the sales floor, but they didn't have what she wanted, so she didn't want to buy anything. They told her that she MUST purchase something or she would lose the $5 credit - the credit that had been in the system since she paid for her spot on Wednesday! I spent only $5, because I'm just rebellious...lol Nevermind the fact that I had already spent like $20 within the last two weeks (in a row).

Oh and by 12:01 or was is 11:59, they had pushed everyone out of the store. Now, I paid to crop from 6-midnight - and if I was almost finished with something, I would have stayed till then, kwim?

After not cropping in a store for six months, I must say things have changed; and I don't think I will be scrapping at that LSS for a LONG time.

The Scrapstore Nazi's are out, girls, beware.

This has been a trying week for me - I found out I am being laid off from my job around the middle of June and I still have some health issues that need attention. All of it just sort of came crashing down on me at once and I must admit I was Pitiful Pearl.

Time sure has flown by since my last post. I've had a bit of trouble getting back into 'the swing of things' since I came home. My energy level is about 95%, but my oomph is about 60%. Things are good, though and that's all that matters.

I can't believe this weekend is almost over! And I did NOTHING...So I thought I would post my goodies from my shopping trip to the LSS two Fridays ago and to HL this past Friday. Got some chipboard, some ribbon, tons of blingage, some thickers and letter stickers and tons of CS and patterned paper. I've been kind of bored this weekend. Web has been busy building a back deck - he's pretty much finished except for the handrails. Ah, the joys of being married to a carpenter. It looks really really nice. Geeee, maybe I should take pics, huh?

Can I get a WOOP WOOP?!

Today is a great day for me! After 25 days of IV antibiotic therapy, I am DONE!!!!!!!!!! The nurse made it even more official when she showed up to remove my PICC line (the IV thingy). WOOOO HOOOOO!!! I am so happy! Things are definitely starting to get back on track. I have an MRI scheduled for Monday and then a followup the next Monday and hopefully I can start to put this behind me. What an experience this has been.

I haven't done too much this week on the scrapfront....I did go scrappy shopping yesterday at HL - spent double what I had budgeted...oh well..lol I have some ideas flowing - hopefully I can get them onto a page.

Since I don't have any layouts to share this week, thought I would share a recent picture of myself. So this is me right now...I'm very pale I guess because I was so sick - my roots are shining - and my face is very swollen and round due to the steroids I have been on for the last month. (it's actually more swollen now...) But this is me - and I am glad to be here..my outcome could have been so much worse than it was.

a good week.....

Last week turned out pretty good! I went back to work - but not for the full 8 hours. Just taking it easy and easing back into the swing of things. I'm actually going to attempt my usual cleaning routine tomorrow - yay...lol

Did I tell you that I was asked to join a Critique Group? My best pal Mel invited me to join the For Scrap's Sake CG/COF and I am loving it! It's such a great group of ladies - all so nice, funny and talented scrappers. I am glad to be a part of their group! We are having a blast! We have a challenge twice a month and some other fun things going on.

Doing the challenges has been fun! This week's challenge was to scrap the town/city we live in. Believe me, it was a challenge! There's nothing exciting or great about the little town where I live. a quick check-in...

Everything has been going good! I have gotten stronger and stronger every day and am even going into work tomorrow for a bit. I'm just ready to get back to "normal". I've spent a lot of time in my scraproom - although I have only produced 2 layouts! I had great intentions of getting LOTS done, but it just didn't happen. I love the ones I finished, though. I really feel the urge to go scrappy shopping - haven't bought anything this year I think - except for my Scrapperie kit, which is YUM-O. I hear the LSS calling my name....how nice it is 2 miles from work!

Oh and in other news, AJ CUT. HER. HAIR. Like really really bad. Like 5 inches from one ear to the other. Yes she has a mullet. I am taking her today to get the rest cut off and will take some pics and report back. I was sooooo sick - I really thought I was going to throw up when I saw it. But what can you do? It's hair. It'll grow back - yeah.

Mary tagged me, but I'm going to have to get back to you on that. My middle name has three 'E's" in it, so that will require some thought!

I'm here.

Gee, how nice that is to say....I have had a busy week or so...I ended up spending 10 days in the hospital--10 LONG days. Without going into much detail here, just know that I am much better and am on the road to a great recovery. Thanks be to Jesus and his undying mercy for me. Am I getting all 'religious' because of my experience? No...I know He's there, just sometimes it takes something like this to make you realize, ya know? That everyday is NOT a guarantee, that WE aren't in control at all. Sure makes one do lots of pondering...that's all.

I must say that my hospital stay wasn't all too bad for a hospital stay I guess. Everyone was super nice and helpful - this was my first time in aside from the 24 hours when I had AJ. The food wasn't even THAT bad...lol I must say though, there is no place like home. The comfort of your own bed, your own stuff, just the things that make it HOME.

I've been home for 2 days now just taking it easy. I actually worked in my scraproom today. I was asked to join a Critique Group on another site and the first challenge was to re-do your first layout. I pulled it out and thought, "ya know, it's not THAT bad" Yeah already in denial. The first LO was of our first date. Well it wasn't like our first date EVER, but the first one as a couple and we got all dressed up, etc - not just a trip to WM...lol I had a hard time getting into it, I guess I just saw it as DONE. But I worked it out today and yes, it looks MUCH better.
Yeah, that' s a black CM page (when they were like brand new) Check out that master cutting with the deckle scissors. I really thought I was cutting edge putting those tix on there even the y weren't pictures. (hiding my head...)
I used a MME Bohemia kit I had been holding on to for about a year, Fancy Pants Chipboard, a flocked heart brad from HL, and some cute old Imagination Project rubons. It's amazing what you can find in your stash if you really look..lol I tucked the 2nd pic, the tix and the fortune from dinner up under the mat. BTW, the fortune says STOP SEARCHING FOREVER. HAPPINESS IS JUST NEXT TO YOU. pretty cool, huh?

Welp, it's been nice checking in. I should be around more now and hopefully be kickin the layouts since that is all I have to do this week. ;)

Blech...and two LOs...and a TAG!

Soooooo, I spent this weekend in a scrapping funk. I had tons of time to get stuff done, and nothing was. I think that's blamed mainly on the fact that on Saturday, I sent some pics to WM - and they didn't get them. I was confused, but when I got home, I realized I must not have completed the order. Great. And I live 30 miles from the nearest WM, so I wasn't about to go BACK in on Sunday. I have tons of pics here, but I didn't want to work on Christmas. So here I am, scrapless for the weekend.

I did find some old pictures (like 2004) of AJ and her first trip to CEC. I am inspired by them, but don't know if I have papers that will work.

The good thing is that I have to run to the bank later (there is a WM on the way) so I will probably get those pics printed....if not maybe tomorrow.

Here are the two layouts I did last week:
This was for a scraplift challenge over at Scrapperie. I am please with the turn out. I rarely get to scrap pictures of just Web and I. My co-worker took this at our Company Christmas party. Don't I look so happy after THREE Cosmos?! LOL
This layout sat on my desk all week long. It's so different from what I would call my 'style'. But in the end, I do love it. The journaling is the best. it says, "We decorated cookies for the first time this year. Can you tell which ones mommy decorated and which ones AJ decorated?" I wanted to focus on the cookies because she really did try (as you can see). Yes, they were scary looking, but they are also cute! Plus, it was something we did together and we created a memory.

It's the third day of 2008 and I have decided on my word for the year. I did some major thinking and a little soul searching over the past few days.

My word for this year is content.

Dictionary.com defines it as satisfied with what one is or has; not wanting more or anything else. Content to me means happy, but it goes so much deeper than happy. I mean I can be happy anytime---I'm happy my heater worked today in the 21 degree weather; I'm happy that my Ann Taylor cords still fit; I'm happy I don't have to cook tonight. To me happy focuses on the little things---and yes while the little things are important, the big picture is more of my concern. See, I have become very materialistic in these last years--very money driven. It's sad, I know. Web works in an industry that is very lucrative, but it can change in an instant. It also caused him to work 3, 4 and 5 hours from home. We, as a couple, are "live in the moment". This can be good and yes, can be bad at times. But the money has always been a factor. If he is making excellent money, then things were fab. If it was a down time, then it was really a down time. Instead of focusing on what we had at that time, we were always looking for the next great thing. Instead of enjoying the moment, we were forcing ourselves to see what we could have when the next big job rolled in. We....I.....never stopped to relish what we were in at the down time.

Right now we are in what I see as a down time. We made a conscious decision late last year to sacrifice some of our lifestyle so that he could be home full time and we could be a family. At the same time, we decided to buy a new house. It's been a struggle--financially and mentally. We are muddling through. But see, I don't want to 'muddle' through. I want to be able to be content. I want to be able to realize that all I really need in this life is first and foremost my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Then Web, AJ, my family, my health, etc. So what if I can't go shopping for clothes I really don't need this week. So what if things are tight right now. We have a brand new house, food in our bellies, and the love for each other that is undying. THAT is what I need to focus on. If I focus on what is important, then ya know what? All of those menial things will work themselves out. It sounds so easy reading it as I type it, but for me, this seems like a daunting task (have I mentioned I'm a pessimist?) I know my life is good...I just need to realize how good it really is and just stop and reflect on it.

Can I be content in 2008? I sure hope so..........

So Long, Farewell, Goodbye 2007

I must say that I am glad to see 2007 go. It was a trying year for me--full of tragedy and pain. I lost my dad and my brother within 6 weeks of each other.....my basset hound Sammy died after 10 great years....there was a lot of 'down' time for me this year....my inner pessimist definitely saw more time than I wished. But thru all of the bad, there was some good that peeped through. Like Web getting a job at HOME. For the first time in our marriage, he is home for good. You don't know how this thrills my heart. No more sleepless nights ALONE in our bed; no more having to talk on the phone for hours. He's here, every day---every night. Another wonderful thing is we bought a brand new house....1800 square feet of newness and NO CLUTTER. Yeah that's good for sure.

So while 2007 had some bad times, it also brings the promise of a better 2008.....something I embrace.

Christmas

.....was wonderful! Santa was waaaaaay too good to me yet again! AJ was more than thrilled with her Santa gifts and Web loved his also!

We went to my mom's for Christmas Dinner and had spiral ham, roast beef, green bean w/tomatoes, hash brown casserole, baked brie (one of my faves), and Creme Brulee cheesecake for dessert. It was all so yummy and the best thig is that my mom and Don made it ALL! We just showed up! ;)

I was supposed to work on Wednesday, but AJ didn't feel that great (and neither did/do I) so it didn't take much for me not to go in. I did go in for a bit today though---and tomorrow will be my normal work Friday.

Now for some scrapstuff:
#1 - Trimming the Tree

These pics were so beautiful that I didn't know if I could do them justice in a LO. I am pleased with the outcome, though. It even was chosen for LOTD today at Scrapperie!

This was the first year that AJ actually WANTED to see Santa. She patiently waited in line and went right up to him and onto his lap. I am so happy to have a GOOD Santa pic this year!

CHRISTMAS!!!! I am glad to report that I am now officially in the Christmas spirit! About darn time, huh? Last night, we went two towns over and looked at Christmas lights. They were sooooooo beautiful. We hadn't been to that particular neighborhood in about 3 years--I remember we took my dad once when AJ was a baby. I remember how he enjoyed them and looked forward to the next year when we could go. Welp, time passed and things happen and we never were able to take him again for one reason or another. I think he was with us last night, though, and that made me feel all warm and cozy.

Today, we are having Christmas for Web's son Ryan and for his son Jon and his wife and daughter. I am making a lasagna for a change. I know we will all be eating ham and turkey for the rest of this week probably, so I thought a lasagna would be good.

Well, I need to go start cooking my feast! Have a Super Sunday everyone!

Christmas Whirlwind...

Baking. Shopping. Wrapping. OH MY! These last few days have been such a whirlwind! Monday I shopped all day and what felt like half the night. I still have more to do, though!

Yesterday, my BFF came over for our annual gingerbread house making day. The one you see closest here is mine~~~the pretty snowcapped roof and better looking one is Kim's. We had a great time~~even the kids were good!

Today, I took off work to finish up everything CHristmas related~~the final shopping, cleaning, and more wrapping. This is the first year I have worked in five years, so I have had a really hard time trying to get everything to fit into my new schedule. Thankfully, I have the best boss ever (and also one of my best friends), so taking the day was no problem! I am hoping to get it all done today!!

Not much going on the scrapfront~~there are a few pics and my new kit from Scrapperie on my desk, so hopefully tonight I can get to it!

Some stuff...

We had a nice weekend. Friday night was my company Christmas party and it turned out very nice. Saturday, I cleaned a little and then went to my mom's to make cookies. I didn't get much done though. I've been blah these past few weeks. I think I am really missing my dad about now. This will be the first Christmas without him and it is hitting me harder than I thought it would. But I am muddling through. Today I actually made some fudge and AJ and I decorated some cookies. I even made another batch of cookies--although I think Web has eaten them all by now.

I haven't posted any LOs in a while, so I thought I would show ya a few: This was a challenge layout for Scrapperie~~it had to be 3-D. Everything except the pics are pretty much popped!

This next one, I must say, turned out way better than I expecrted. It was this week's challenge at Scrapperie. We had to use lyrics that reminded us of someone and explain why. I wrote the lyrics on the scroll work and my journaling is hidden. It was actually picked as LOTD over at Scrapperie! How exciting is that?!

Today, as I was frantically searching for my Christmas cards (nope. didn't make them, had them printed when we got family pictures made) I found 3 Colorbok Christmas Frame Kits as well as 2 Embellished Wood Kits that I got from H*bby L*bby last year for 90% off!!!! So now, I think I will make a few for some hard to buy for gifts! Well, I've put AJ and Web to bed, guess it's time to start being creative! ;)

We will be heading to the House of Mouse this weekend for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party.

But before we go, I have a TON of stuff to do~~~like finish putting up the Christmas decorations inside and outside. Like washing clothes. Like hopefully getting some scrapping done!

This week has been hectic, although not much has really been going on. It just seems that I have been getting home after dark every. single. night. I'm really tired and really just wanna sleep. BUT, that won't be happening for the rest of the month, I am sure. Why is it that December just flies by and you are left hanging on trying to get stuff done? I am really not a last minute type of person, but this year, I will be and it is driving me nutso.

But I will suck it up and put a smile on my face because it really is the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

It's beginning to look a lot like CHRISTMAS!

Yes, the tree is FINALLY up! After about 30minutes of trying to figure out where to put it, I finally decided! AJ and I decorated it in about 20 minutes! Of course all of her ornaments are centrally located towards the bottom of the tree..LOL I was amazed that she was actually asking where certain ornaments of her were. Like her Elmo on a Candy Cane she got for her first Christmas and the Cookie Monster she got the next year. The girl definitely has a memory! Today I will try to get the rest of the house decorations up and Web said he will start the outside for me.

My first attempt

At Cards, that is. I mean y eah, I've made cards but that was at a SU Demonstration and everything was pre-cut and the idea was already there, kwim? We were challenged over at Scrapperie to make 4 cards from scraps. I am so not a scrap saver, but I went thru my page kits and found some stuff I had actually saved!

The first one is a sketch that Jayme made back in October, and I just got around to making it. The 2nd one was a sketch that was on Scrapperie.

The 3rd and 4th were kind of myown, with a little inspiration. So, any big plans this weekend? We will be going to a Christmas parade tomorrow morning and then we will be putting up our Christmas stuff. We have a lot this year to put up~~I went the day after CHristmas last year and went crazy buying all kind of stuff. Actually, I can't remember everything I bought!! I'm hoping to get some great pictures this weekend so that I can scrap away some holiday pix!!

Sick Day

I ended up having to stay home with AJ today as she is sick. :( Poor baby. Since my scraproom is right next to her bedroom, I have spent most of the morning in here so that I can run her to the bathroom when she gets sick. I've managed to get a new layout done for Challenge #4 over at Scrapperie~~the challenge was to use 4 pics, 4 colors, 4 embellies and a 4 word title. Here's my take.

This next layout was the #3 challenge for last week. We had to use the title "This is True Beauty" I love this pic of AJ and the ocean. It is probably the best picture I have ever taken.

Well, AJ is sleeping for the moment, so I am going to go finish some laundry and then hopefully try my hand at making some cards! I've never really made any on my own, so wish me luck!

Ready for a Scrapping Weekend!

My friend E and I have rented a condo at the prestigious World Golf Village for a weekend of scrappin! After work, my parents are picking up AJ and I am off to scrap the weekend away!

My stuff is packed - or together anyway-yes that is a laundry basket, but with the recent move, I couldn't find anything to carry my stuff in, so the basket will do!

I'm hoping to get lots done - I haven't really planned my pages like I usually do, but I grabbed some stuff that should work and am just gonna go with it! I can always take a break to go shopping, right?

A little busy, a little scrappy

Wow, I can't believe it is Saturday already! I've been a little busy this week with nothing in particular really, just the every day goings on. But instead of boring you with all of that, how about I post some LOs and projects I did this week? Sound cool?! Cool!

This is my Gratitude Album. Janet at Scrapperie is hosting a '21 days of gratitude' challenge. I chose this cute little file folder album and have been making tags. I've done five so far, so I really need to be catching up. So far, I have been thankful for FAMILY, CHINESE TAKE-OUT, OLD FRIENDS, OUR NEW HOUSE, AND MY QUIET TIME. I'll post more as I do them.

Here's a quick little LO I did of AJ in her Halloween shirt. It's actually a lift from another member over at Scrapperie. I think it turned out cute and I am in love with those chipboard letters. One of our LSS makes that font---too cute!

Here's a LO I actually did for a swap, but then I ended up not going to the crop in order to swap, so yesterday, when I got AJ's school picture back, I new where it needed to go:

I did this LO for the Nov/Dec Challenge over at Scrapperie. The theme for this week was "Your Superhero" I chose to do a LO about my dad.

This Layout was hard for me to do, all of the words just poured out and then came all of the tears. I haven't really cried or grieved since he passed, and I think this layout has helped me to start the process. So see, scrapbooking IS therapeutic!

Well we are getting ready to go to Web's granddaughter's birthday party. AJ is gone all weekend with my parents out of town and we are home alone ;) Hopefully I can work in my scraproom (or is it a studio?! LOL) some tonight or tomorrow.

It's Finished!

I finished the baby gift album last night around 11! Good thing since the baby shower is at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Just another manic Monday

Not a lot going on. I am just doing my normal Monday cleaning. I am hoping to get a challenge done for the local group I am in which is due tonight by midnight. I thought I had longer to work on it, but apparently not...lol

Saturday, my friend Elyse came over and we cropped from 9:30 to 5. I worked on a gift album for an upcoming baby shower and finished a fall swap page for next week's JPS crop. I have to make 4 more layouts for the gift album. I ran out of ideas and embellies! It's a baby boy album, so I had a block for some reason. I had never done anything baby boy, so I guess that's why. So tomorrow I am going to HL to get the rest of the supplies.

Since the album isn't done, I don't wanna post pics yet, so I guess I will leave you with a pic of the cutest girl ever....

Here goes:

1. I like things very clean looking - lateral and perpendicular. (just look at my layouts and that is easy to see....lol)

2. I own 9 yes count them, 9 Coach purses and the matching wallets. I have a serious addiction, I know. I try to look at other purses, but it must say Coach or it doesn't come home with me.

3. I saw snow for the first time this year--living in FL, that's not something you see everyday. We were in Northern California in February and I was in knee-deep snow!

4. I have lived on the same property since I was born with the exception of 5 years when my parents divorced. I have lived in 4 different houses on on piece of property.

5. I get car sick very easily. If I am not driving, you better believe I have taken a *Bonine* before I got in your car. I also have vertigo spells..........

6. The inside of my car is ALWAYS messy. By the time I get home, I don't feel like cleaning it out, so it stays a mess. You never know what you might find in there. I often joke that if I were ever in an accident that AJ and I would get hurt not from being hit, but from the flying debris in my car. Need a fork? I probably have one. How about some socks? Yeah, got those too---all in the cabin of my lovely car!!!

7. I am a make-up whore. I have TONS of makeup and always buy more. I have 3 cosmetic bags FULL of makeup that I fell I must have just in case I need that certain color.

A sneak peek...

So here we are into weekend #3 of painting the new house. Last night my mom and I started on colorblocking the scrap room.

That's my mommy, with her handy level thingy in hand.

Here's a sneak peek of the colors. The third color is a creamy white.

It's pretty dark in there because we still do not have our electricity turned on yet. They are saying Monday is the day for that!

We still have some touch-ups to do in there and then we will be done with the painting part!

Next week we will be getting the pre-made counter tops from Lowes and Web will be getting them installed. THEN, I will be moving in!!!! One of my friends has already booked the first crop date in my new room! WOO-HOO!!!!

I met two of my friends Saturday at the LSS for an all-day crop. I had soooooo much fun! I had not scrapped with these girlies in over and year and it was waaaaaay overdue!! I must say I haven't laughed that much in a L-O-N-G time! We're already planning our next crop-a-rama!

I didn't really get all too much done, but I sure did enjoy the company!

Sleeping Princess:
I was finally able to use the Brittany's Castle line I bought back in June! I knew I would find the perfect pictures for the pretty paper!

Paper & CS stickers are CTMH and fishies are Jolee's

I've been using my CHERISH book from CTMH (I am a consultant). I absolutely LOVE it! It makes it sooooo easy to create multiple-photo layouts!

I have no scrapping on my agenda this week. We are still painting the new house and hope to start moving in this week! My scraproom is well underway. I will post some pics later of it!

My new ribbon storage...

So I was tired of the way my ribbon was being stored. Sure it was in one of those nice containers that is made to hold the rolls and zips and everything, but I just hated it.

Last night I began searching for a new solution. I kind of wanted THIS but didn't know if I would really enjoy it. And then I would be out $19.99 + shipping. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I found this lovely idea on a website or blog somewhere and thought I would give it a shot.

Here's mine:
There are 60 ribbons in there! And it only cost me $1!!!! Hopefully I will like it..........

Here are the layouts I did a couple of weeks ago. I still have one more to journal and then I will post it also.

This week I will be priming and painting my scraproom. Hopefully on Sunday I can get my countertops purchased and we can start getting the room together!

I'm going to an all day crop on Saturday so I hope to get some layouts done. Been wanting to scrap all week long, but with work and trying to paint the new house, nothing got done.

NO time to SCRAP!!

I have been so so so busy this past week. We have gotten a new house and I have been painting and priming and painting some more! (Well not me by myself, with the help of family and friends) Now I have to start packing.......YUK!!!!!!!!! Luckily the new house is just in front of the old one, so I am hoping that I can just carry most stuff over.............

With all of this going on, I haven't had time to scrap or even scan in the layouts I did over a week ago....(I rocked when I cropped at work two Fridays ago!!! I made 15 birthday invites and completed 4 two page layouts!)

Hopefully I will get them scanned in this week.

Oh, and I am getting ready to paint my very own SCRAPROOM!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

okay, here's my first post. I thought that I would try this on for a while and see how it goes. I don't know exactly what will show up here, but I am thinking it will be mostly layouts and ideas.

Speaking of, since it is almost fall (well according to the calendar it is---not feeling like fall in sunny FL) I thought I would post last year's Halloween layout:

This is AJ in Venice, FL. They have the cutest Halloween there! They close down all of the shops in the downtown area and open it up to all of the trick or treaters!
